National Soccer Tournament

Our school soccer team has been training since January 2007 and we joined the national tournament early 2008. Our training was tough as we went through endurance and skill training. Finally, the tournament arrived and we did not do too bad. We won a couple of games and lost a few. Overall, we were ranked 9th in the national tournament. I was satisfied with the final result as we were a new team and we managed to break into the top 10 teams.

Sports Module-Softball

Our school organized a sports module for the students. I have chosen to take up softball as I have never played it before in my life. Throughout the few weeks, I have learned how to catch, throw and bat the ball and I experienced hitting a home run. Overall, it was a good experience and I have benefited by learning a new sport.

Spring Dance Performance

Rubberband performs again!
We decided to take our band to new heights. We expanded our creativity level by performing for our school event, the Spring Dance. We were talented musicians and we were very keen on expressing them to our fellow schoolmates. I played lead guitar for the band. We played 3 songs for the concert, When our heart stops beating by +44, Dancing in the moonlight by toploader and teenagers by my chemical romance. It was a very unforgetful experience and we were proud to be part of such an event in our schoool.

Outward Bound School

This was my second time in an outward bound school program. The activites were pretty much the same but the experience is a whole different thing. What I experienced in OBS Malaysia was very memorable and I expected my experience in OBS Singapore to live up to it. I experienced belaying, mountain climbing, kayaking and jungle trekking in my time there. I was store manager in OBS which gave me a responsibility to keep track of all the gear and equipment. In a nutshell, the OBS adventure was very rewarding as it has given me so many new qualities that I can apply in life.

Chiangmai Service Trip

A group of volunteers from my school went to Chiangmai to help build a water tank. We experienced mountain hiking and living the village lifestyle. We worked under the hot sun for hours just to connect pipes from a water source in the mountain to the village. After 5 days, we managed to complete our job and finish up the water tank. We were relieved that it was over and were proud of ourselves as we were able to help ease the troubles of the villagers in Chiangmai.

Haunted House for Cellefest

I continued to help this organization further by helping my class to set up a stall to raise money. We decided to set up a haunted house as we believed we can attract a lot of people. We spent a lot of time organizing and manpower to set up this stall. Everything paid off as Dr Barrett announced that our class raised the most money among all the stalls that were set up. We were very proud of ourselves as we helped the disadvantaged children.

Cellefest Rock Out Competition

Our band, Rubberband joined the cellefest rock out competition to help raise money for the charity organization, MILK (Mainly I Love Kids). We practiced our songs for the competition at the West Clementi Recreational centre. For the competition, we played the song Home by Chris Daughtry as it is meant a lot for these disadvantaged children. The lyrics and tone of the song is very significant. Although we did not win the competition, we managed to collect more than a thousand dollars from the votes. Overall, I felt very proud of my band because we played a part in helping these children.
